Lavender turquoise and peridot stud earring commission to match client’s pendant

Lavender turquoise and peridot stud earring commission

The Brief

Ian contacted me to see if I could make some earrings to match the gorgeous lavender turquoise and peridot pendant he bought his wife before Christmas. I was of course more than happy to oblige and luckily I had a pair of suitable stones for the job! He gave me free rein to create something in my style that would be a good complement to the pendant.

The Design

To keep things simple in tune with the pendant, I suggested we set the stones simply in sterling silver bezels and I also suggested adding a small cast silver pebble for balance to the faceted peridots. A brushed finish was the obvious choice of surface treatment, again to match with the pendant.

I did have to cut and shape the turquoise cabochons a little to even them out and make them a good pair. I quite like “non perfect” pairs anyway, but wanted them to be almost the same in size to make the pair as good as possible. After making bezel settings for the turquoise, I made open back tube settings for the 4mm cut peridots. Then, by recycling some sterling silver, I hand cast small silver pebbles and it was all assembled together, before I set the stones.

The Finished Earrings

So here are some more images of the finished stud earrings, I got a bit carried away with different props! Luckily the earrings went down really, really well, they were delighted with the gorgeous blue turquoises and Ian said he’s bookmarked me for future treats!
