The plain rings from the Rugged collection has had lots of interest from men, which is lovely! I’ve never set out to appeal to men, but I can see why this collection would appeal, with its rugged and raw textures and chunky shapes.
Graham and his wife to be Ali, approached me a while back, I think after seeing my Rugged collection in Cornwall Living, back in September last year. They liked the rugged aesthetic of the collection and initially came to me to re-model an existing ring of Ali’s. We were to re-use the diamonds and the yellow gold for settings, and incorporate them into a new white gold ring in the Rugged style. Once we got going and they came to see me, I showed them another commission ring, that was meant for a man. Graham really liked it, and decided he wanted his wedding ring in the same style. So I made a sterling silver ring, and we used some of the yellow gold from the old ring, to add to his as well. Here are a few shots of the ring.
A few weekends ago, while on our Sunday surf club spree at the beach, I took a few snaps of Graham’s ring. I love the way it kind of looks like it belongs there, like it was washed up and ended up sitting next to the limpets and barnacles, sunning itself on the rocks!
What Graham and Ali said
Graham and Ali left me this wonderful review on Facebook, so I thought I’d share it here as well!
“We have been working with Carin on a design for our wedding rings. We had a vague idea of what we wanted and provided Carin with examples and likes and dislikes. After having our first meeting, she made “mock ups” of what we discussed and we viewed my husbands finished ring today and are both really pleased with the outcome. Carin interpreted our designs and ideas and embellished them even further. Would highly recommend Carin’s services as a jewellery maker. Super pleased, really excited to see my finished ring.”
I’m also making Ali’s ring in the Rugged style, white and yellow gold with gorgeous diamonds… You’ll have to wait and see that one later!
