This one of a kind necklace is a little bit special! The fun bit is that the pendant is made from a cabochon of so called Fordite. Fordite is cut layers of compacted Ford motor paint that has hardened in the spray booths of car plants, and was taken from the Ford plant in Detroit in the US, in the 1960’s. This is the second piece I have made with this interesting “stone”, the first one sold very quickly!
This pendant features the beautiful Fordite with its many layers of subtle coloured shades of Ford car paint. Above is 2 square wire segments, slightly offset which gives the pendant a somewhat Asian feel. Finally a bright blue sparkling faceted Kyanite stone crowns the pendant. It hangs by a tube bail attached to the back on the pendant for a streamlined look.
The silver has a high polish finish to make it sparkle and to provide a simple base for the beautiful layers of the Fordite and the bright blue Kyanite stone.
The chain is a nice and substantial 1.9mm thick snake chain which closes with a lobster clasp. Please chose between a 16 inch and an 18 inch chain.
The pendant measures 38mm long at the longest point (from top of Kyanite to bottom of Fordite) and 18mm across at the widest point.
This is a piece of history in a necklace and there is only one, so don’t hesitate if this is your kind of thing!
