What can I say – I love opal! This gorgeous boulder opal has been given the simple treatment and is set with a little ledge and perches atop a wide textured band. This is a true one off ring as this stone is unique, with lovely vibrant blue on a brown ironstone backing, with a few little electric turquoise pin flashes, typical of this kind of opal.
The organic texture on the ring band is inspired by the rugged textures of rocks and cliffs here on the north Cornish coast. It’s created by fusing silver dust and small pieces of silver scraps to a plain base, resulting in this rustic look and feel, which goes so well with the opal. The silver has a black patina that has been brushed back and polished on the high spots, adding extra depth and a bit of sutble sparkle.
The ring was made using sterling silver and genuine boulder opal gemstone. The ring band is tapered to a slimmer width at the back for comfort. It’s made from 1mm thick silver stock and measures approximately 14mm wide at the front and 9mm at the back.
If you need a different size you can contact me and I’ll be happy to make you a similar ring in your size. Do bear in mind that as these opals are one offs, each ring will be different, although in the same style.
